Community advocacy group, ACT NOW! says the announcement by new Prime Minister, Peter O’Neill, that his government will sell the controversial Falcon jet is a smart move.

"The Falcon jet was an expensive mistake that epitomized the greed and corruption of the previous government, it is a smart move by the new PM to get rid of what was effectively a ‘private PMV’ for the Somares and their supporters”, says Effrey Dademo, Program Manager for ACT NOW!

IFC operating under a cloak of secrecy on SEZ laws for PNG

Operating under a cloak of secrecy, the International Finance Corporation has been busy developing laws to allow Special Economic Zone laws in Papua New Guinea, while failing to answer questions from civil society about the project.

This secrecy contradicts IFC claims that it is committed to transparency, accountability and sharing information 'to strengthen public trust'.

Attacks evidence of Australian Government's short-sightedness

ACT NOW! calls on Minister to take action on Deloitte claims

Community based campaign group, ACT NOW!, is calling on Minister for the Environment Benny Allen to investigate claims of serious financial mismanagement and misuse of trust funds in his Department.

Four reports from international consultancy firm Deloitte have been published on the internet that are highly critical of financial management within the Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC).

Email action launched against Harmony and Newcest

Community based campaign organization, ACT NOW!, has launched an email action against Harmony Gold and Newcrest Mining, owners of the Hidden Valley mine in Papua New Guinea.

ACT NOW! is asking the general public to send messages to the two companies through the ACT NOW! website, calling on them to ‘come clean’ about their acidification of the Watut river system.
