Zurenuoc Thanks Protesters for Orderly Behaviour

CHIEF Secretary Manasupe Zurenuoc said students rallying to protest the passing of the Judicial Conduct Bill last Friday were exercising their rights and praised them for their good conduct and behaviour during the event.

“You have the right to respond  ... and I must thank (NCD police chief Andy) Bawa for being cooperative and allowing all you to march.”

PEA pushes K250 housing allowance

THE Public Employees Association has maintained its stand on the K250 housing allowance subsidy for public servants.

Association president Michael Malabag said it was a requirement for public servants to get housing subsidies so they could afford decent accommodation because many lived in settlements.

But Malabag said since last year, the housing allowance was never paid as it was still before the Public Service Arbitration and Conciliation Tribunal.

The government’s move is being interpreted as a broadside against the nation’s Chief Justice, Sir Salamo Injia, following the leaking of court documents and the quashing of an investigation into his financial dealings.
