Pomio Grand Master of Evasion Wants No Delay in Seabed Mining

A story in Radio Australia News today sent tremors of disbelief, horror and disgust all throughout my conscience.

The headline read “PNG MP Wants No Delays on Seabed Mining Project” and believe or not the MP concerned was none other than minister who was embroiled in not one but THREE different stories of grand theft! The Taiwan scandal, the Kikori Gas Pipeline Landowners Association scandal and the 2011 Travel Air scandal. Yep – the infamous ‘Pomio Grand Master of Evasion’ himself Paul Tiensten.

In all his expertise and knowledge on the subject of experimental seabed mining, through all the subsequent research Tiensten’s done he's said

“He's dismissed environmental concerns about the project, saying other mining projects in PNG have had similar concerns and yet received government approval.

"There is [a bigger] upside to this project than issues about the environment," he said.

"I think people are just sensationalizing all these environmental problems, because they don't understand how this system works.

"The system is not a new system - the technology has been around...these people have done the due process and for some reason the government is dragging its feet on it."

Don’t know what 'system' exactly Mr Tiensten is talking about but if he’s talking about the same Nautilus projects that we've been researching, asking for expert opinion and  deeply contemplating then – uh yes! the technology has been around BUT it has never been used to excavate seafloor massive sulphides anywhere else in the world! So the technology may not be new but the adaptation and the use of it for this sort of mining is absolutely untried anywhere else in the world Mr Tiensten!

Seriously if anyone from the ‘Prime Haus Tambaran’ pays Mr Tiensten any heed then we are in utterly deep sh*t! Why anyone would take advice from a certified self-serving fraudster is beyond me! Another question would be what exactly is Mr Tiensten hoping to gain out of the project? He was in parliament for two terms...and all he did was get rich or get arrested trying to - so why does he all of a sudden have a bleeding heart for his constituents?

“Mr Tiensten says his constituents need the money it will generate to pay for roads, wharves, jetties and to boost their local economies.”

Another thing – how can someone who does not rely on the ocean for their livelihood dismiss environmental concerns? NEWS FLASH – it doesn’t affect you because you don’t need the sea to be healthy in order for you to survive day to day and make some money Mr Tiensten!
