Mothers pay the price for government corruption

Corruption benefits the politicians but it is ordinary mothers who pay the price

“I am a mother and I frequently visit the hospital and I have a pay a fee to receive medical treatment."

"To see the pathologist, to consult with a doctor, I pay. Why should I struggle to pay for every little check when the government can allow K780 million to be stolen?”

This is a reference to the Commission of Inquiry into the Department of Finance that found $780 million stolen from the public purse by politicians, bureaucrats and lawyers. No action has been taken against those responsible and no attempt has been made to recover the money since the Commission reported in 2009.

“We are being made to pay while they are stealing our money!”

“Why can’t the government put that money to support the Heath Department to provide the free health care we need?

I don’t know why we are still paying fees when their is a free health policy in place.”
