Basil pleads for action on corruption

By Sam Basil MP

My good country men and women I have been vocal against corruption in Government from the opposition for almost four years now and I am sick and tired already.

I am also a member of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) with serious corruption issues on hand but nobody seems to pay for the crimes they did to the State which is the 6.5 million people of this country.

Billions - not Millions - Billions! have gone missing and people from higher places have been implicated with ministers shifting their families to good schools and health facilities in the comfort of their newly purchased homes overseas while we all watch and do nothing.

I tried raising my voice in Parliament and got threatened by the Prime Minister twice the first was to come to Bulolo and finish me during the 2012 elections and second he threatened to kill me from the floor of Parliament.

The gross misuse of funds by the government MPs can easily make them return to power after the 2012 elections and that will be disastrous if we cannot do anything about it NOW!

The Government being in power has manipulated and misapplied funds to suit their political agendas and that is to keep them in power long enough so they can keep on spiving off the wealth of this nation.

I have forwarded documents to the Ombudsman Commission in the past with strong back up evidence and supporting documents but nothing has been done to do date while I have risked myself to do so!

So now I don’t give a damn anymore!!! because our anti-corruption agencies no longer function. The weak MPs cannot come out and join me but I do not blame them and understand the risks involved.

Together we have to find a way to take our country back from the thieves - please join me and lets ACT NOW!
