From the Peter O'Neill fanclub of POM
This is a very real and genuine feeling by a group of PNG middle class sporters concerning the new PM. Yes the wording is harsh in places but our politicians have been treated too delicately for much to long. Its time we catch up with the rest of the world and start really holding our pollies accountable.
A Drinking Song Tribute to Papua New Guinea’s First Irish Prime Minister, the Honourable Peter O’Neill
(created by Peter O’Neill fanclub of Port Moresby WITH HELP FROM the POM Revolutionaries)
There once was a konman named Peter O’Neill, With very dark skin yet an irish man’s name, Yes Peter once tried that bisnis stuff too, But he never could pay his way,Chorus:
Heads up, heads up for Peter O’Neill, he’s now the PM, ok? HOORAY for Peter O’Neill, O’Neill, he’s managed to con his way. Maladina and Peter, a dream team for sure! They took on the fund with the NPF name They cleaned it all up, then they cleaned all out, Herman Leahy was helping, they say,(Repeat Chorus)
A bladi success was that NPF theft, ‘cause they managed to hide it away, While Jimmy got fat, our poor Peter went broke, It was high time he learnt a new way.(Repeat Chorus)
Nape plus Peter, a second team WOW! Somare would hate them but where is he now? The door is wide open and Peter’s walked through, Scheming and planning to get rich anew.(Repeat Chorus)
Now Abal was honest, that’s not a good trait, In our PNG parliamentary circus of late, Peter promised them something, we still don’t know what, NA traitors came running to get their new cut(Repeat Chorus)
How could Basil, Morauta be voting O’Neill? Unexpected behavior or some secret deal? Ethics be damned but hypocrisy is not, Morning, Sam Basil! Have you lost the plot?(Repeat Chorus)
Now the Falcon is part of a government sale, The money is flowing but where lies the trail? Let’s begin with a slush fund, a trust fund or two, Plus some Cayman accounts for the loyalty crew(Repeat Chorus)
A truly great conman some dozens will say, Pete knows about this but stays out of the fray, He says from now on stealing’s clearly tambu, But is NPF on Peter’s list to pursue?(Repeat Chorus)
The world might be laughing but Peter smiles big, He’s back in the money, a fancy new gig! The honest support him, the corrupt are in awe, Cairn’s Somares are jealous and Chan still looks small,(Repeat Chorus)
Now it’s time to reward NA conmen and more, Campaigns cost big bucks, this the voters make sure, Give out kina, brown cartons, and projects to boot, It’s whole lotta money, so where comes the loot?(Repeat Chorus)
It’s our government funds that new pollies now grab, They’d better act fast ‘cause they know it won’t last, Mauswara out front about wiping out graft, while over in Cairns they all wine, dine and laugh.(Repeat Chorus)
Free this and free that, our ol Peter proclaims,
“School fees are now finished and I’ll be to blame,”
Now how are they going to pay for all that?
More mines and more land grabs, and other such crap?
(Repeat Chorus)
We once had a country quite rich and secure, The people were happy, no money it’s true, But equality ruled and the konmen stayed low, Now times are a changing, ExxonMobil and all,(Repeat Chorus)
Look, streets are a humming, POM’s towers do glow, Yet our resources are leaving and our wealth hardly shows, The economy’s been growing so why’re we left out? Yes, silence is golden, but isn’t it high time we shout?(Repeat Chorus)
Our clinics lack drugs and the schools have no books, While potholes abound making bodies all shook, Our kids lack service that once graced our land, ‘Cause so much was stolen by government hands,(Repeat Chorus)
Look, voting is only a few months away, We know that they’re stealing, close our eyes and just pray, While we bend down our heads, Peter claps with great glee, If that makes you cross, then please join us and scream…Ending chorus:
HERE’S ONE FINGER UP FOR OL PETER O’NEILL, THE MIDDLE ONE UP IN FULL VIEW! IT’S A ROYAL SALUTE FOR OUR SECOND GRAND THIEF, WHOSE NATION HE’S READY TO SCREW! YAAAAA, HERE’S ONE FINGER UP FOR OL PETER O’NEILL, THE MIDDLE ONE UP HIGH AND DRY!!!!!!!!! IT’S A ROYAL SALUTE FOR OUR SECOND GRAND THIEF, OUR NATIONAL CORRUPTION GUY!!!!!!!!!!- tok stret's blog

I'm impatiently waiting for a YouTube video with the tune to this one. Great song..!
The lyrics made me think of the famous Hamburg folksong: "Auf der Reeperbahn nachts um halb eins" (On the Reeperbahn Street at midnight (00:30) a song by Hans Albers).
It really became a sailors and dock workers folk song over the years. When you hear sailors of farmers in the villages sing it during their village fesitivals, it creates a really great drinking atmosphere. I don't there is a single Hamburger that doen't know the Lyrics.
Here's the YouTube video:

Thanks for sharing the song

I wish that all creative Papua New Guineans would start focusing their talent to create viral products like this which will sweep the country and put our pollies on the spot. Too many talented PNGeans basically waste their talent because they don't apply it to truly useful purposes.

It's sad that people would waste there time complaining about the PM and the things his doing when, in fact, his actually transforming and creating a government that thinks more about the people and the international relations between other countries and Papua New Guinea. In my opinion and the opinion of many other people who actually see past the mistakes Peter O'Neill made in the past is that he is actually genuinely doing a fantastic job in providing a solid structure to build on.
So I think this song is just intolerable and ridiculous and obviously stemmed from idiotic drunks who obviously don't appreciate change. Do your self a favour and stop degrading yourself and Papua New Guinea.

Peter O'Neil may have won the battle of wills but he's still a thief and deserves to be treated as such. His inability to face justice in the NPF scandal covers our whole country with shame and disgrace.

Too many Papua New Guineans have forgotten it's good that we have things like this song to remind us.
