Mining executives and government Ministers prefer the high life in Sydney to the dangers of Port Moresby

The big boys of mining and petroleum and from the PNG government are set to gather at the annual PNG Mining and Petroleum Investment Conference in Australia.

They will gather in Sydney at the Hilton Hotel for the conference which will run for three days, December 1-3.

It will be the 13thsuch conference to be held.

ABG President Slams Controversial Report by Australia NGO

Autonomous Bougainville Government President John Momis has criticised Australian NGO Jubilee on its report on Panguna landowners.

President Momis described the report has biased, defective and divisive.

He said the report was deeply flawed and that the interviews with 65 individuals and one focus group around Panguna Mine defers from the views of the 10,000 people in affected areas.

PNG police task force to combat police brutality

The Papua New Guinea government is to set up a Police Task Force to combat police brutality.

The Post Courier reports that the task force will have up to 30 police officers whose primary role will be to instill discipline and restore respect among the police and the public.

Kundiawa MP Tobias Kulang had raised the issue of frequent reports of police brutality in Port Moresby with Mr O'Neill during question time in parliament yesterday.

The Minister said this following alegations raised by the member for Moresby Northeast Labi Amaiu about a foregin owned company issuing eviction notices to people living at ATS and Eight-Mile area.
