The big boys of mining and petroleum and from the PNG government are set to gather at the annual PNG Mining and Petroleum Investment Conference in Australia.

They will gather in Sydney at the Hilton Hotel for the conference which will run for three days, December 1-3.

It will be the 13^thsuch conference to be held.

Autonomous Bougainville Government President John Momis has criticised Australian NGO Jubilee on its report on Panguna landowners.

President Momis described the report has biased, defective and divisive.

He said the report was deeply flawed and that the interviews with 65 individuals and one focus group around Panguna Mine defers from the views of the 10,000 people in affected areas.

Real estate developer Glory Development Limited yesterday refuted reports published about Portion 693 outside Port Moresby.

The reports had been made by Lands and Physical Minister Benny Allen and Moresby Northeast MP Labi Amaiu queried in Parliament this week.

The Papua New Guinea government is to set up a Police Task Force to combat police brutality.

The Post Courier reports that the task force will have up to 30 police officers whose primary role will be to instill discipline and restore respect among the police and the public.

Kundiawa MP Tobias Kulang had raised the issue of frequent reports of police brutality in Port Moresby with Mr O'Neill during question time in parliament yesterday.

Calls continue for Papua New Guinea police working for logging companies to be removed amid unresolved claims of police brutality against landowner communities opposed to logging.

Allegations by some East New Britain landowners that they were intimidated and assaulted among other abuses by police attached to a logging company remain unresolved.
