A spokesperson for the newly-formed United Liberation Movement for West Papua, Benny Wenda, says its creation is one of the West Papua independence movement's most significant steps in dealing with Indonesia.
An arm of the Organisasi Papua Merdeka says what happened at Papua New Guinea-Indonesian border was a symbol of representing their dislike and discomfort of been under Indonesian rule. Three organisers of a pro-West Papua rally in Port Moresby have been taken into custody, with the governor of the Papua New Guinean capital accusing the country's government of bowing to pressure from neighbour Indonesia.
