THE developers of the Ramu Nickel project says it has met all its commitments under the project’s memorandum of agreement-2000.
It states its commitment has not changed and it will be working to meet its obligations under the revised MoA currently in effect as the project ramps up.
The firm was responding to reports by Usino/Bundi MP Anton Yagama in relation to the recent destruction to properties owned by Ramu NiCo (MCC) Management Limited at the Kurumbukari mine site in his electorate.
Mr Yagama had during question time in parliament this week said his people were peaceful but failure by the Government and company to implement their obligations under the MoA had resulted in the mayhem.
He had called on the prime minister to get the mining minister and police minister to a round table to address the core issue, which he stated is that the people were not getting any benefits from the mine.
He said he was concerned over the manner in which police were going about in trying to haul in those they alleged were involved in the incident.
The management had responded stating: "No stone was left unturned. We have delivered all required of us under the MoA and even outside of the MoA."
