VIDEO: Attorney General hurls racial abuse at PMIZ forum

By Rosalyn Evara*

A heated racial slur exchange between Attorney-General Sir Arnold Amet and Sumkar MP Ken Fairweather [see video below] marred a public forum in Madang attended by senior national ministers to discuss the Pacific Marine Industrial Zone project with the local people.

An obviously agitated Sir Arnold held the microphone in his right hand and with his left hand pointed at Mr Fairweather and said: “I’m not a white man’s cargo boy my friend, I don’t need you, you pack up and leave my island. That’s raw politics … now let’s talk politics,” he said.

Mr Fairweather is long-time businessman who owns Dylup Plantation on Karkar island where Sir Arnold comes from.
Speaking in Tok Pisin, Sir Arnold told an amused and cheering crowd at Sek Primary school that the NA Government had bought the Dylup Plantation last week to give it back to the local people … “so Fairweather, I’m telling you, you don’t belong here”.

Mr Fairweather did not take it lying down, the smiling and six-foot tall and heavily built Sumkar MP shot back at Sir Arnold saying: “Minister, Minister, I’m telling you, on Karkar, they call you acting white man,” bringing roaring laughter and clapping from the crowd.
However, many people at the gathering expressed disgust at the unbecoming conduct of the two leaders.

Very sad to see that Anol Amet is scooping down very very low....compared to what I had admired some years back....I've been following him closely on his speeches even at pulpits on Integrity, Honesty, Transparency, Accountability, the Arts of Leadership.....and on all the traits that one would wish and pray to see in a Leader. .........and now all these is nothing but down the drain in just a moment......so my respect for him sadly goes down with them......now he speeches seems more reactive and that of small boys quarreling over marble games.....very sad indeed ...for we are losing some very good leaders into the pews of evil and corruption..... we pray God help PNG.

Ninasu Renda Neyouwe!!

You should record and play the whole session of the forum instead of playing the selected part because the truth was not reflected in the video

Hey all I was at the forum and the video does not reflect how bad these idiots were. It was really bad and the few supporters of PMIZ should have been captured on camera. What a joke they were. They were actually upset to hear the truth from Frances Gem and tried shouting him down. It was funny at one level. The person next to me said what they are really saying is " sit down Gem don't take my corrupt money away from me". We all laughed knowing he was spot on. And yes folks Amet was pitiful.

Very clear what doing on - Kongs to NA - push this. NA to Kongs - yes master. NA to Kapris, Amet, Allen - push this - Kapris, Amet and Allen - yes master. So they the teaboys at the grassroots level are being given money and they are all happy but wait a minute Gem sees it for what it is - and he obviously isn't alone. But of course Gem and all the rest are stupid and can't think for themselves so let's blame the NGOs and as them for an alternative. Not working gentlemen. NOT in the least!

The decision by Amet to be Somare's puppet has taken its toll on a man of intergrity and respect. I agree with nina on Amet up on the pullpit. I witnessed him preaching about, leadership, honesty, transparency and accountability and always admired him as a chrismatic leader. However, I think he has lost something he has built over many years "reputation and respect" just because of politics and stepping so low for someone of his caliber with vast experience and cridentals. He does not know what direction he is taking. Hope the people of Madang are following their governor carfully...

arnold playim ples klia politks blo em ino kam lo solvim hevi blo ol people. nogat sem blo em, em tok nogut too na koros wantaim ol NGO na papagraun leaders who are pushing against the PMIZ...anold is just another yes master blo ol kongkong na somare
