ActNow, a non-governmental organisation, has backed the national touch football squad to the Pacific Games with the apparel promoting its cause.

The group, which focuses on the issue of illegal land grabbing, gave 40 trainning shirts and inner garments valued at K8000 to the national touch open men's and women's squads yesterday.

The teams are expected to compete well for the gold medal with the Cook Islands, Fiji and Samoa the main contenders.

The organisation's administration manager, Gary Iga, and campaign coordinator Eddie Tanago said that ActNow was reaching out to sporting organisations to conduct its awareness and campaign in Port Moresby and around the country.

"We are planning to establish an agreement and understanding with touch to be a major sponsor and partner in the Pacific Games and other events involving the code," Iga said.

PNG Touch manager Ian Yaro said the donation was timely.
