Public voice their support for Joy Wartovo

Please help Joy live a normal life

I READ with disgust about the sufferings and anguish endured by Joy Wartovo at the hands of her her husband last December. Then came the satisfying story that he was terminated from employment and behind bars and I thought these sufferings had come to an end. But for poor Joy, this was far from over. It was yet another disgusting story of abduction and abuse. She has been stabbed and hospitalised.

I’m totally at a loss for words as to how best I could possibly describe why she can be left exposed and unprotected by the laws of this country and the law enforcing bodies of this nation.

I read with disbelief that a law enforcer housed and allowed the abduction and abuse of Joy at his residence and now these culprit allies of the man are hiding and protecting him after he has yet again committed a hideous crime against the woman.

Whose interest are the law enforcers serving and am wondering if they do know their role and the core purpose of the existence of the PNG Royal Constabulary?

I must be corrected or have I missed something, are the laws of this country made to protect and defend the perpetrators or wrongs doers against the normal law abiding citizens.

This woman does not deserve and has no need to live through all these fears and miseries but live a normal peaceful life. This is an earnest plea to the newly appointed Minister for Police and Commissioner to seriously look into this matter and bring the perpetrator (Bernard) to trial and justice must be served for this raises very serious doubts and concerns about the policemen’s conduct and to what laws they are serving.
Please arrest and lock him straight away in Bomana.

He cannot pick a fair fight - beating a helpless woman does not make a man. He is bad example to the younger generation.

Joy’s life is at stake. Please help her live a normal life.

Cops must act on Joy’s plight once and for all

WHAT is happening to the Police Department?

Do they have a different rule for people within the force and for the general public?

Joy took courage to come out and speak publicly about her ordeal. And I believe she did this to get the attention of the Police Department because they definitely would NOT have listened to her if she went to them privately.

What happened to Simon Bernard when Joy came out publicly the first time? Was he disciplined? Terminated? If so, why is he still residing at the McGregor Mobile Squad Single Quarters? Whoever is harboring him should be ashamed!

And whoever up the ladder that knows about him residing there should be dealt with as well. Can the police hierarchy do something about this?

We don’t need evidence - goodness we’ve seen enough in the papers to prove his guilt.
She’s at the hospital with knife wounds - Isn’t that enough to lock Mr Bernard away?

The death penalty should be imposed for people like Simon Bernard!

Simon Bernard, you are a very unlucky man, obsessed and abusive. You cannot take the fact that Joy has had enough of you and wants to leave you. I feel sorry for you!
I reckon you had a sad upbringing to be like this. I hope you are reading this.

Police must be neutral in handling the case

I AM a husband and have been married to my only wife for 21 years now and have grown up children. I have read and followed Joy G Wartovo’s case and wonder if our government and police force is neutral?

This is a serious case which should be investigated and the husband must be arrested, charged and denied bail. If found guilty, he should be sent to Bomana and placed in the same cells with the hard labour inmates.

Joy should be sent home to her village by the government to start a new peaceful life. A restraining order should be in force for five years for to protect Joy and her family.

I think all guilty police officers should be placed with hardcore criminals because they also broke the same law that those in jails broke. It’s only fair this way.
