The SABL blame game – Who is to be blamed?

By Pasifika Wardrobes

The Special Agriculture Business Lease (SABL) is still an outstanding matter before the O’Neill led government, and the much talked about delay into addressing this massive corrupt scheme has prompted the blame game.

The blame game started when there was a delay by the Commission of Inquiry (COI) into the SABL, and when one of the three commissioners in the inquiry failed to produce his report.

Commissioner Aloyis Jerewai’s excuse was because he wasn’t compensated financially for conducting his share of the inquiry.

He said he was taking the matter up in court.

Prime Minister, Peter O’Neill replied saying the whole inquiry was funded K17 million, and all commissioners were compensated.

“There is no excuse why Mr Jerewai failed to hand in his report because they were all paid,” said the Prime Minister.

O’Neill said he will be ordering an investigation into Jerewai, and why he has held back his report.

Even the chief commissioner of the inquiry, John Numapo called on Jerewai to submit his final report.

So who is to be blamed here?
