The reason behind the dispute during the special agriculture business lease (SABL) site in Pomio district has been attributed to land ownership issues.
Norbert Pames from Portion 196C (Pomata Investments Limited) in the Sigite/Mukus integrated project area in West Pomio indicated this when commending the national Government on its decision to cancel SABL projects.
He said the disputes were not because the people were against development but because due process was not followed from the start of the project resulting in the ongoing land disputes.
He said resolving these landowner issues should have been the priority before there was any talk about development.
Meanwhile, a Pomio leader, Edward Melo, is blaming the ENB provincial administration and its agencies are being blamed for the termination of the SABL project in Pomio. Many are citing short-cut dealings as the cause.
