ICAC law ready

The proposed Constitutional Amendment to establish an Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) has been certified, gazetted and will be tabled in Parliament by the Prime Minister Peter O’Neill during the November session.

This was announced by Chief Secretary to Government Sir Manasupe Zurenuoc yesterday at his Morauta Haus office.

Here's another twist to the 'K50 million for Fiji Elections' saga, actually this can be described as 'feeling the salt being rubbed into the wound' if you ponder on it.

Last week we heard how Mista Prime Minista had kindly agreed to aid Fiji in its 2014 'democratic' elections. Seems the majority of ministers and businessmen saw the positives of PNG doing this and those of us who thought it ridiculous were only a few.

Govt must set up ICAC to fight graft

IF the government is really serious about combating corruption at all le­vels, then an Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) must be set up immediately.
 

Setting up the ICAC has been mooted many times before in various public forums but nothing substantive has resulted.
 The main reason for inaction is that successive governments always lacked the political will to stamp out corruption.
