Papua New Guinea's new Prime Minister Peter O'Neil has made political stability his top priority in office.

 Earlier this week Mr O'Neil ousted Sam Abal as the country's leader, who had been appointed by Sir Michael Somare before he became ill.

Papua New Guinea as we know is now totally corrupt, the Judiciary the last beacon of hope for PNG is not as impartial as it used to be. In recent months we very experiences Judges sitting in the National and Supreme Court have been made to quit without having their tenures extended only to be replaced by senior lawyers who have been part of this government’s grab of power and statutory corruption at the beginning.

The findings of the Commission of Inquiry into the Finance Department which uncovered the theft of over K730 million from the public purse by prominent lawyers and public servants, look set to continue to gather dust because of the suspicious failure of the government to reappoint judge Mark Sevua.

There has been growing concern in Papua New Guinea (PNG), in the past, and more so, recently, at the manner in which the people's Parliament has performed it's functions.

The three components of the State, Executive, Legislature and Judiciary are intended to operate independently of each other, providing checks and balances to ensure transparency and accountability. But, have they?

Papua New Guinea Prime Minister Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare has not made any announcement yet as to his political future and who is likely to succeed him if and when he decides to retire officially from politics.

This is  despite the much anticipated announcement coming from the highlands where he was visiting recently.

We have watched you rise in stature as the nation’s vice regal, Governor-General, Head of State of Papua New Guinea on behalf of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.

You have presented yourself as a champion in the fight against corruption with consistent, consecutive leadership in word and through Transparency International (PNG) Inc annual Walk Against Corruption.

Papua New Guinea, Sir, is crying out for role models of righteousness in the light of much questionable decision-making by the elected government of the day.

Prime Minister Michael Somare's attempts to rule Papua New Guinea like an African dictator have taken another step forward with an Edict from the Minister for Justice (see attached pdf below) that bans public debate on the Environment Act amendment and orders the police to stop any public gatherings or protests.

THE Opposition has called for the sidelining of Minister Paul Tiensten and an investigation into an allege K13 million fraud within the National Planning and Rural Development Department.

Deputy opposition leader Bart Philemon called on Prime Minister Sir Michael Somare to investigate the alleged K13 million fraud. The Opposition claims the money was siphoned out through ghost projects and contracts by private firms and individuals who colluded with the Department.
